Accra, Ghana | The African Marketing Confederation (AMC) has announced the launch of the Certified Professional Marketer (Africa) designation, or CPM(A), a ground-breaking programme designed to equip marketing professionals with the tools and skills required to navigate Africa’s complex and diverse business environments.
The programme consists of four core modules: Marketing Strategy in Africa, Marketing Research in Africa, Marketing Management in Africa, and Business Management in Africa. Each module combines foundational knowledge with practical skills, and culminates in a capstone project focused on solving real-world challenges specific to African markets. By incorporating local case studies and practical applications, the CPM(A) ensures participants gain actionable strategies that are directly relevant to the continent’s unique economic, cultural, and technological contexts.
The programme is delivered entirely remotely, giving participants the flexibility to study from any location, enrol at any time, and progress at their own pace. Modules may be completed individually or as part of the full designation, making it accessible to both full-time professionals and those balancing work commitments.
Anisa Fielding, who helped develop the course content at the IMM Graduate School of Marketing, emphasized the significance of the programme for the African market. “We examined international marketing models but found none designed specifically for Africa. Marketing strategies cannot simply be transplanted from one country to another each market has unique cultural norms, consumer behaviors, and regulatory frameworks. CPM(A) equips professionals with the knowledge to succeed across these diverse environments,” she explained.
Fielding also highlighted the programme’s modular and practical design, which allows learners to apply concepts directly to their work while completing focused micro-credentials instead of long semesters. She added that contemporary tools, such as artificial intelligence, are embedded in the curriculum to ensure marketers can leverage technology responsibly and effectively in their strategies, much as calculators became essential in business decades ago.
The CPM(A) designation is now open for applications to marketing professionals across Africa, promising to raise the standard of marketing expertise and strengthen the continent’s business competitiveness.
