New Orleans, USA – Uganda’s premier fashion house, ARAPAPA by Santa Anzo, will headline the Pearl of Africa Night at the 37th Annual UNAA Convention & Trade Expo, running from August 29 to September 1 at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans.

This landmark showcase, presented in partnership with Inspire Africa Group (IAG), is themed “Brewed in Uganda, Styled for the World!”. It represents a bold fusion of two of Uganda’s most powerful cultural exports: coffee and couture. Through this collaboration, coffee and fashion will serve as twin ambassadors for Uganda’s national identity, economic potential, and creative excellence.

At the center of the showcase is ARAPAPA’s limited-edition capsule collection titled “Coffee as Couture: Where Taste Meets Texture.” Inspired by Uganda’s rich coffee heritage, the collection blends earthy palettes, textured fabrics, and storytelling motifs that reflect both tradition and modernity. The pieces will debut on an international runway before diaspora leaders, investors, and creatives.

For Santa Anzo, ARAPAPA’s founder and creative director, this moment is deeply personal and symbolic. “Headlining Pearl of Africa Night is both an honor and a responsibility,” Anzo said. “It is the culmination of three decades of resilience, creativity, and belief in the power of African fashion. Fashion is more than clothes — it is a language of identity and diplomacy. When we take the runway in New Orleans, we are telling the world: Uganda is ready, powerful, and beautiful.”

This year’s Pearl of Africa Night carries added significance. It celebrates 25 years of ARAPAPA and 30 years of Santa Anzo’s leadership in shaping Uganda’s fashion industry. Traditionally a music-and-culture evening, the event will spotlight fashion diplomacy for the first time, elevating Ugandan creativity on a global stage. Meanwhile, IAG will leverage the platform to advance its mission of growing Uganda’s coffee revenues and footprint. By linking couture with coffee, the campaign underscores how creative industries can intersect with agriculture, tourism, and trade to amplify Uganda’s brand worldwide.

Looking beyond the New Orleans showcase, ARAPAPA and IAG plan to launch a sustained campaign connecting coffee, fashion, and tourism. This will include future diaspora experiences, cultural showcases, and international exhibitions designed to attract investment and visitor traffic back to Uganda. These efforts will also align with IAG’s flagship initiatives promoting value-added coffee and cultural tourism.

The Uganda North American Association (UNAA) Convention remains the largest annual gathering of Ugandans in the diaspora, drawing thousands from the United States, Canada, and beyond. For many attendees, Pearl of Africa Night is a highlight of the convention, blending entertainment with cultural pride. By placing ARAPAPA on the headline stage, Uganda is not only showcasing fashion but also telling a larger story of resilience, enterprise, and creativity.
