Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) continues to invest in people through its Graduates in Training (GIT) Programme, an 18-month initiative designed to cultivate high-potential graduates into future business leaders.
The graduation of the 2023/2025 cohort highlights CCBU’s ongoing commitment to nurturing talent that drives meaningful impact, with the program’s theme: Unleash Talent, Drive Impact. The GIT Programme targets individuals who not only excel academically but also demonstrate agility, emotional intelligence, and leadership potential qualities essential for navigating today’s fast-paced business environment.
“A rigorous, merit-based selection process ensures that our trainees possess a unique combination of critical thinking and resilience key attributes for future leadership at CCBU,” says Catherine Gita, People and Culture Director at CCBU, part of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa. Throughout the program, trainees rotate through various departments, gaining practical experience and contributing to real-world business challenges. These rotations give them the opportunity to lead projects, solve complex problems, and make significant contributions to company goals.
What sets the program apart is its dual-mentorship model, where trainees are guided by both line managers for day-to-day tasks and senior leaders for strategic oversight. This two-tiered approach ensures consistent feedback, long-term career guidance, and direct interaction with senior leadership. In addition, quarterly performance reviews with the management team provide accountability and visibility for each trainee.
To enhance their development, trainees are involved in innovation projects, cross-functional collaborations, and a variety of learning opportunities, including LinkedIn Learning modules and leadership talks. These diverse learning experiences equip trainees with the skills to lead across multiple functions, sectors, and markets.
