Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has been named the 2025 CAF Men’s Player of the Year, widely regarded as the African Ballon d’Or.
Hakimi’s exceptional performances over the year included major successes with PSG, such as winning the UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and the UEFA Super Cup, cementing his reputation as one of Africa’s top football talents.
He also made history by becoming the first defender in 52 years to win the award and the first Moroccan to claim it since Mustapha Hadji in 1998.
In his acceptance speech, Hakimi dedicated the award to aspiring footballers across Africa and expressed gratitude to those who supported him from a young age, inspiring the next generation of African talent.
