Mauritania’s Ambassador to the United States, Cissé Mint Cheikh Ould Boide, has been named the 2025 “Ambassador of the Year” by the National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC), a prestigious honor that recognizes her exceptional contributions to advancing U.S.-Arab commercial relations. The award, announced in late September, celebrates Ambassador Boide’s dynamic leadership and her role in elevating Mauritania’s profile within the American business and diplomatic communities. Her efforts have been instrumental in fostering strategic partnerships, promoting investment opportunities, and strengthening bilateral ties between Mauritania and the United States.
As Mauritania’s top envoy in Washington, Ambassador Boide has championed initiatives that highlight her country’s potential in sectors such as energy, fisheries, infrastructure, and sustainable development. She has actively engaged with U.S. stakeholders across government, industry, and civil society, building bridges that support mutual economic growth and cultural understanding. Her work has also contributed to Mauritania’s increasing visibility within the Arab League and its positioning as a key player in regional and global affairs.
David Hamod, President and CEO of NUSACC, praised Ambassador Boide for her effectiveness, diplomacy, and unwavering commitment to enhancing Mauritania’s international standing. He noted her ability to connect with diverse audiences and her strategic approach to promoting Mauritania’s interests in the United States. The “Ambassador of the Year” award, presented annually since 2004, honors Arab ambassadors who demonstrate excellence in diplomacy, commercial outreach, and leadership.
The award ceremony, scheduled for December at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C., will be an invitation-only event attended by high-level figures from the diplomatic corps, business sector, and policy circles. Ambassador Boide’s recognition marks a significant milestone for Mauritania, reflecting the country’s growing engagement on the global stage and its commitment to economic diversification. Her achievements not only highlight the strength of Mauritania’s diplomacy but also signal a promising future for its international partnerships and development goals.
