As excitement builds ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Morocco has begun an intensive volunteer training program to ensure smooth operations during the continental football spectacle.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Moroccan Ministry of Sports in collaboration with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, aims to equip thousands of volunteers with essential skills in hospitality, logistics, crowd management, and first aid. Organizers say the move reflects Morocco’s commitment to delivering a world-class tournament experience.

According to officials, the volunteers—drawn from universities, youth groups, and sports associations—will play a critical role in assisting fans, guiding visitors, and supporting matchday coordination. Training sessions are being held in several major cities, including Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakesh, all of which are expected to host matches.

“Volunteers are the heartbeat of any major tournament. Their passion and service reflect the spirit of our country,” said a spokesperson for the organizing committee.

With Morocco positioning itself as one of Africa’s premier sporting destinations, preparations for AFCON are in full swing ranging from infrastructure upgrades to hospitality improvements. The volunteer program marks yet another step in showcasing the nation’s readiness to host one of the continent’s biggest sporting events.
