Rabat – Ghizlane Chebbak, the captain of Morocco’s women’s national football team, has joined Saudi club Al Hilal on a one-season contract. The club confirmed the signing on Instagram today, stating that Chebbak will represent them until 2026.

In a video shared by the club, Chebbak introduced herself, saying, “I’m Ghizlane. I carve paths through the crowd and turn every moment into a goal.” Her name, which means “deer” in Arabic, mirrors her agility and elegance on the field.

Her move to Al Hilal is part of Saudi Arabia’s expanding investment in women’s football, aiming to attract top-tier players and coaches. For Chebbak, this transfer offers an opportunity to gain experience in a new league while still representing Moroccan football at the highest level.

At 35 years old, the midfielder continues her international career after stints with Moroccan club AS FAR and Levante Badalona in Spain.

Chebbak is one of the most prominent figures in Moroccan women’s football. She started her career at AS FAR, where she eventually became captain and won numerous national and international titles.

Her 2013-2014 season was a standout, with a remarkable 54 goals in just 20 matches, setting a record in Morocco. She also played a vital role in helping AS FAR secure third place in the CAF Women’s Champions League in 2021 and 2023.

With the Atlas Lionesses, Chebbak was instrumental in Morocco’s rise, particularly during the 2022 and 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where the team reached the final on home soil.

By joining Al Hilal, Chebbak becomes part of Saudi Arabia’s expanding women’s football project. The country has been heavily investing in its league, attracting high-profile players such as Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Yassine Bounou, as well as renowned coaches like Simone Inzaghi.
