In Rabat, a building just a few hundred meters from the seafront houses some of the country's most prized jewels. The National Museum of Jewelry, also known as the National Finery Museum, showcases a rich array of traditional jewelry from various regions. The collection includes Amazigh silver pieces, luxurious urban jewelry, and symbolic Saharan designs.
A visitor shared, "It's important to know our traditions and the legacy our ancestors left behind, which is why I brought my daughter to the museum."
Founded in 1915 in pavilions built under Sultan Moulay Ismail’s reign, the museum underwent restoration from 2020 to 2022 and reopened in 2023. It not only highlights the craftsmanship of Moroccan artisans but also explores the cultural and social importance of jewelry, particularly in weddings and religious events. The museum serves as an educational space, fostering awareness and appreciation of the country’s cultural heritage.
