Lira, Uganda – The Rising Woman Initiative, a flagship program dedicated to empowering women through entrepreneurship and financial literacy, attracted hundreds of participants during its recent event held in Lira.

The event served as a platform for aspiring and established female entrepreneurs to gain essential business knowledge, share ideas, and network with mentors and financial institutions. With its growing reputation across Uganda, the initiative continues to inspire women to take charge of their economic future.

Participants engaged in a series of workshops focused on business planning, access to finance, marketing strategies, and personal development. Facilitators from the banking and business sectors also shared practical tools and success stories to encourage women to formalize and grow their ventures.

“This initiative is changing lives by equipping women with the knowledge and confidence to start and sustain businesses.” “Seeing such a strong turnout in Lira shows how eager women are to take up leadership roles in the economy.”

Launched in partnership with dfcu Bank, Daily Monitor, and Uganda Investment Authority, the Rising Woman Initiative has become a national movement aimed at closing the gender gap in business. It also includes a competitive component where selected women entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas for funding and mentorship support.

Many attendees in Lira expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that such forums are rare and impactful in the region.

“I’ve always had a business idea, but didn’t know where to start.” “This program gave me clarity, support, and the push I needed.”

As the Rising Woman Initiative continues to expand its footprint, organizers say they hope to reach more women in rural and underserved communities, helping them not only rise but lead in the economic transformation of Uganda.
