Salesian Missions has played a pivotal role in strengthening healthcare access in the Central African Republic by funding the shipment of vital medical equipment to two Salesian-run clinics in Bangui. These facilities, located in the Damala and Galabadja districts, had recently undergone structural expansion to accommodate growing patient needs but lacked the necessary tools to operate effectively. Thanks to this initiative, more than €100,000 worth of medical supplies, including neonatal incubators and diagnostic devices, were delivered, significantly enhancing the clinics’ capacity to provide essential services, particularly in maternal and child health.
The Damala clinic, named after Saint Artemide Zatti, a canonized Salesian nurse known for his dedication to the sick, was inaugurated just over a year ago and now serves as a cornerstone of healthcare in Bangui’s 8th district. The Galabadja clinic, also recently expanded, has received similar support, allowing both centers to offer improved care to thousands of residents in underserved communities. The shipment was made possible through a partnership with the Canadian International Health Collaboration, and the symbolic handover of wooden keys, crafted by students from the Salesian Institut Lemonnier in France, highlighted the spirit of international solidarity and youth involvement in humanitarian efforts.
