The Mohammed VI University of Health Sciences (UM6SS) officially inaugurated its new campus in Agadir on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in enhancing medical and paramedical training in Morocco's Souss-Massa region.
The opening ceremony of the Agadir campus' first academic year was attended by regional governor Said Amzazi and other high-ranking officials. The project, aligned with UM6SS's strategic vision, aims to address the growing demand for qualified healthcare professionals while strengthening the local healthcare ecosystem.
University leaders emphasized that the Agadir campus will play a key role in Morocco's ongoing health system reforms and in improving access to healthcare for surrounding communities.
"Beyond our Faculty of Medicine, this campus will house two prestigious institutions-the Mohammed VI School of Engineering in Health Sciences (EM6ISS) and the Mohammed VI Faculty of Nursing and Health Professions (FM6SIPS)," said Lahoucine Barrou, the campus's general director and dean of the Faculty of Medicine.
The EM6ISS will offer two innovative tracks: digital engineering in health and biomedical maintenance and engineering. These programs are designed to prepare graduates to design, develop, and manage medical technologies, including imaging systems and surgical robotics, fields that are seeing an increasing demand for skilled professionals.
